  22. Prior to outfits like Advantis and the Home Shopping Network blowing
  23. major smoke up GTE's ass about network congestion and T1 clocking, folks
  24. in Tampa were fortunate to even get a connection.   GTE still lost the
  25. HSN account, including every cent of the toll completion revenue due to
  26. LEC bypass, but in the process learned a great deal about becoming a
  27. phone company.  Today both HSN and Advantis have direct fiber POPs from
  28. their IXC (MCI I believe, in both cases).  It would be real interesting
  29. to see how GTE would handle things differently if they could only wind
  30. the clock back a few years and start over.
